Preparing your child’s daily baon can be as challenging as planning the family menu. They have to be delicious, nutritious and easy to prepare. Here are some ideas and recipes from King Sue that can brighten up lunch boxes and make them appealing to kids:
KING SUE PANDESAL MUFFIN PIZZA
Ingredients:
- 3 pcs. big pandesal
- 250 grams King Sue Hawaiian Ham
- 1 big tomato
- ½ cup grated mozzarella cheese
- fresh basil
- olive oil
Cooking Directions:
- Remove the top of the bread.
- Take of the bread inside.
- Put in the tomato, King Sue Hawaiian Ham, and cheese
- Place in a toaster for a few minutes or until the cheese is melted
- Top with basil
- Drizzle with olive oil
KING SUE PESTO AND HAM PINWHEEL
Ingredients:
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup pesto ( basil, Parmesan cheese, olive oil, garlic)
- 3 large flour tortillas (12")
- King Sue Sweet Ham
- In a bowl, beat together the cream cheese and pesto. Spread the mixture on top of one of the tortillas. Top cream cheese/pesto mixture with ham. Roll up tortilla tightly and wrap with plastic wrap. Refrigerate.
- Remove from refrigerator and unwrap. Slice into rounds and display on serving plate or tray.
KING SUE SWEET HAM KATSUDON
Ingredients:
- 2 pcs King Sue Sweet Ham (sliced ½ inch thick)
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1 large sized beaten egg
- oil for deep frying
SAUCE:
- 1 medium white onion sliced
- 1 stalk onion leek sliced thinly
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
- 5 tbsp. soy sauce (Kikkoman)
- 1/4 cup mirin
- 1 sachet dashi granules dissolved in 1 cup water
- 1 egg slightly beaten
- Dredge the ham into the flour, then dip in egg, dredge in panko breading, dip fry till golden brown. Set aside.
- Simmer in low heat the dashi, mirin, soy sauce, onions, leeks and brown sugar.
- When it starts to boil add in the egg.
- Swirl the pan a bit to cook the egg without breaking it.
- In a bowl put some steaming rice, slice the ham and top over it.
- Lastly pour over the sauce and serve.
Cooking time: 25 minutes
